In cooperation with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), BOMA Toronto coordinated its second annual Earth Hour Challenge. The event was sponsored by Energy@Work and took place on March 29, 2014 from 8:30-9:30p.m. The BOMA Toronto 2014 Earth Hour Challenge’s main objective was similar to the WWF’s Earth Hour mission: to raise energy awareness, demonstrating what is possible when people work towards a common goal together – even if it is only for one hour.
Specifically targeting Toronto’s commercial office buildings and their tenants, the BOMA Toronto 2014 Earth Hour Challenge posed a friendly competition to reduce electricity load during Earth Hour, and to maintain a similar reduction the following weekend. The competition was organized into two distinct challenges: the building challenge and the tenant challenge, each with two awards: The Best Saver, and The Best Maintainer.
Overall, the Challenge was a great success. The Challenge winners were officially announced at the BOMA Toronto 2014 Celebration of Excellence Awards & Gala on May 8, 2014. We are proud to announce the winners in the Building Category as:
The Best Saver : 190 Simcoe, Managed By: GWL Realty Advisors Inc.
The Best Maintainer: 4025 Yonge Street, Managed By: Manulife Real Estate
In the Tenant Category, both the Best Saver and Best Maintainer were awarded to Colliers located at the Mississauga Exec Centre.
Energy@Work congratulates all participating buildings and tenants on their efforts, and looks forward next year's challenge!
